Anne Amie Tasting Room

August 04, 2006

It's a good weekend to visit Carlton, Oregon!

Dscn0982_3 We're gearing up for a big weekend at both the winery and at Carlton's Walk in the Park.

The tasting room will close at 4:30pm on Saturday 8/5 and Sunday 8/6 for special events.   We open at 10am so come early and enjoy a picnic on a perfect Oregon summer day!   The patio hosts amazing views of our garden, estate vineyard and the Pacific Coast Range.   Don't feel like doing the shopping?  We have a great selection local cheeses from Willamette Valley Cheese Company and Silver Falls Creamery to compliment a bottle of Anne Amie Pinot Noir.

We've recently changed the look of our tasting room and now feature & sell local artwork.  At the winery this month are paintings from Terry Peasley, Brenda Botten & Jan Shield as well as furniture pieces from Jill Gailey.  Next week we'll also have beautiful one of a kind jewelry from Linda Hayes.  Come and see what wonderful things these local artists are doing while enjoying our own art - the wines of Anne Amie Vineyards!   On the tasting flight this weekend is Anne Amie's 2005 Pinot Gris & 2005  Estate Riesling as well as our 2003 Winemaker's Selection Pinot Noir & 2003 Yamhill Springs Pinot Noir.

We'll also be at Carlton's Walk in the Park on Saturday from 11-8pm and on Sunday from 11-6pm.  Come try wines from our new second label - 2005 Cuvée A Amrita & 2004 Cuvée A Pinot Noir as well as the Anne Amie Winemaker's Selection Pinot Noir.  Winemaker Scott Huffman will be joining me on Sunday afternoon so come by and see us.

Cheers!

Thanks to Caprial and John

A great time was had by all at our pre-IPNC dinner tasting featuring the cuisine of Caprial and John Pence of Caprial's Bistro in Portland. The chefs certainly lived up to their famed reputation producing an elegant meal that beautifully showed-off all the wonderful pinot noir wines provided by our guest wineries and, of course, our own Anne Amie Vineyards Pinot Noir selections.

We were often asked why we would showcase a group of California Pinot Noir producers here at our winery in Oregon, but anyone who tasted those wonderful wines knows why. The beauty of pinot noir is its ability to show the unique characteristics of the vineyards where it is grown and the lovely diversity of the excellent wines tasted underscored that beauty. Our goal for the evening was to celebrate that exciting diversity and share the passion and talent of the gifted winemakers that were our guests for the evening. (for a list of those wineries click here)

Great food, great wine and a perfect sunset made for an evening that will be well remembered by all who attended.

The Spring Vineyard Club Shipment!

2005_anne_amie_cuvee_a_pinot_noir_labelOur Spring shipment to our Vineyard Club members is now on the way. Your shipment this season includes two new wines for Anne Amie, our Cuvée A selections. Well, it's not really two new wines, but one new wine and one old favorite with a new look. The Cuvée A Pinot Noir follows in the tradition of the 2002 Cuvée Pinot Noir that you all know so well. The reason we created this new label was to clearly define our styles of Pinot Noir, with the Cuvée A being selected for its forward fruit and early drinking charm, while our Reserve Selection Pinot Noir wines are chosen for their classic depth and ability to develop great complexity with age. You will find our 2004 Cuvée A Pinot Noir delicious with your meals on the grill this summer and please, serve it cool (not chilled - just cool!), as at cooler temperatures its lovely fruit flavors are brought to the forefront.

2005_anne_amie_cuvee_a_amrita_label A totally new wine for us is the Cuvée A Amrita, a creative blend based on our old  vine Müller Thurgau with touches of other fine Oregon varietals to enhance and build on the the most interesting characteristics of Müller Thurgau. Amrita is just off-dry with explosively fresh fruit flavors. This wine is perfect for picnics and deck parties. In particular, Amrita is an outstanding match for all types of Asian or spicy foods. The 2005 Amrita is our first wine finished with a screw-cap closure, which we chose to protect the lovely youthful freshness of this wine. Next year, the 2005 Cuvée A Pinot Noir will join Amrita and be screw-cap finished.

In this shipment, Vineyard Club members will also receive our last Pinot Noir release from the 2003 vintage, the 2003 Deux Vert Vineyard Pinot Noir. Scott wanted to give this wine additional bottle age to evolve as it is a rich, concentrated Pinot Noir that we recommend aging for a few more years as it will be worth the wait. Hidden inside this Deux Vert is a great wine for those with patience. If you can't wait, give Deux Vert an hour or so in a decanter before serving to let it open.

For more information on our Vineyard Club or if you are a member with questions please contact our Vineyard Club and Tasting Director Kim McLeod at the winery or at kim@anneamie.com.

Spring in Oregon

Tasting Room 4_4_06 003

It’s spring in Oregon and we aren't far from bud-break. Mark is already in the vineyard spraying for those nasty bud mites that hit the Willamette Valley last year. The warm spring weather has meant a serious case of spring fever around here and the weather was so picture perfect (literally, see above) the other day that our business manager, Marcia McLeod and special project manager, Melinda Scott could not resist a cool glass of pinot noir while soaking in the spring sun and breezes. The view pictured is looking out from our tasting room towards the Pacific Coast Mountain Range. We hope you can join us soon to share this gorgeous spring.
